Dr. Tucker opened Healesville’s Festival of Racing in fine style with a dominant performance in the $5,000 to-the-winner Healesville Winter Cup.
Exiting from Box 5, the William McMahon trained dog capitalised on a fast start to record a sizzling 6.41 first split to lead from kennelmate Dr. Knuckles in the early stages. Pirate Pete (8) and Mr. Fix It (6) made ground on the rest of the field but it was all in vain as Dr. Tucker put on a straight racing clinic to win by 4.37 lengths in a commanding 18.880.
The Jason Thompson trained Pirate Pete spoiled the chances of a McMahon trained quinella with Dr. Knuckles narrowly holding out Mr. Fix It to round out the podium.
