The Healesville Greyhound Racing Association will conduct the Emerald Race series over 300m in March 2025.
Eight heats will be conducted with four greyhounds competing in each heat (Best 32 greyhounds plus reserves).
The unique concept will see the Emerald final consist of the eight fastest greyhounds from the heats regardless of finish position. Reserves for the Emerald Final will be the 9th & 10th fastest time recorded.
A consolation final will also be conducted for greyhounds that record the 9th-16th fastest time. Reserves for the consolation final will be the 17th & 18th fastest time recorded.

Eligibility:
1. Trainers must submit a nomination via FastTrack before the nomination close time – 11am on Friday 28 Feb 2025.
2. A greyhound must not be under any order of prohibition under the rules of Greyhound Racing Victoria at the time of nomination for the heats, that will prevent it from competing.
3. Open to the 32 best greyhounds, plus 8 reserves.
4. Maiden greyhounds ineligible.
Selection Method:
5. Nominated greyhounds will be ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.
6. Greyhounds tied on ranking shall be drawn by highest APM value, if still tied, recent form will be considered and GRV local rule 50.2 applied.
7. Greyhound Racing Victoria in conjunction with Healesville Greyhound Racing Victoria may apply GRV local Rule 50.2 (Grader’s Discretion).
8. Random/Guarded Selection method will be applied for heats (No Seeding). All 32 greyhounds shall be randomly allocated to each heat, with the guarding of Owners and Trainers applied where possible.
9. Reserves will be randomly allocated reserve #9 and #10. If a scratching does occur, reserves will again be randomly allocated for heats.
10. A Manual box draw will be conducted for both the Final and Consolation in line with LR 54.4
11. The Final/s will be drawn based upon the times recorded by each greyhound in each heat.
12. The hierarchy of qualification of a greyhound to compete in the Final and Consolation, with each being no more than eight in number plus Reserves, shall be solely determined from the heats in accordance with their finishing time as determined by the judge pursuant to GAR 114. The finishing position does not count towards qualification and Local Rule 44.1 does not apply.
13. The provisions of LR 44.2 and 44.3 apply whereby a ballot is required to separate equally qualified greyhounds, on time.
14. The Reserves drawn in the Final of the “Emerald” will be drawn as first and second qualifiers for the Consolation Final, with the next quickest times being included until the full field plus reserves is reached.
Conditions of Entry:
15. Open to the 32 best greyhounds, plus 8 reserves (Heats)
16. Greyhounds will jump from boxes 1,3,5,7 (Heats)
17. A greyhound under any order of prohibition that will not allow it to compete at the respective club, at the time of nominations closing will be deemed ineligible and not drawn into the Event.
18. Upon entering this Event, trainers will make themselves and their greyhound available for any reasonable promotional opportunities relating to this Event at Greyhound Racing Victoria’s request.
19. Greyhound Racing Victoria reserves the right to alter and amend the conditions.
Box Draw(s):
20. A manual box draw supervised by GRV Stewards will be conducted for the Emerald final and Consolation final.
