Healesville Puppy Championship Preview: Blue Boy to Blitz

Feature straight track racing heads to Healesville this Sunday where we have the final of the Puppy Championship. It looks a very competitive race and the box draw has opened it up somewhat following the running of eight heats last Sunday.

I’m very keen on Sheoak Blue Boy (8). To me the outside is not a big disadvantage as he likes to get away from the rail anyway so with clear unimpeded room I think he can be hard to beat. Main danger is Zoltina’s Legacy (4), who is a winner of 6 of his 8 starts and won his heat in the fastest time of 16.61. He is drawn a shade awkwardly but he is very fast and should be in it for a long way. Next best are Boo Shan (5), Hurry Home Cain (6) and Dozer Tron (7). All three went really well in their heat wins last Sunday and if they get trouble free runs can certainly be in the finish. Smaller chances to Kosmik King (1) and Red Light Runner (2), who won their respective heats in slow times.

Other winning chances on what looks a tough day’s racing include Boofa Jack in the first. This guy has been racing really well without winning. He gets his chance from Box 1 and looks very hard to beat. In Race 8 I do like the chances of Hello Sunshine, who is well drawn, and she should be a nice price and if she lands near the lead can certainly take some beating.

For my last selection I’m looking for value with Race 11 Number 2 Derby Girl, I thought she might be able to land right there with the leaders and at the $14 she currently is with The Watchdog I thought she could run a drum at nice odds.
