Ecstatic is one of the many words that could describe how co-trainer Lisa Hellmuth felt after her greyhound Bear’s Gold (pictured) made it through to his first group two feature – the 2016 Healesville Cup.
Bear’s Gold jumped from box four in the first heat on Sunday paying $3.90 to defeat the Queen Of The Straight It’s All Talk.
After a clean get away there was no looking back for Bear’s Gold who went onto win his 14th race from 20 starts.
“I was hoping he would jump well because the last time he raced here he rattled out. Today he jumped clean and managed to win. I was so glad he hung on!” Lisa Hellmuth explained.
Bear’s Gold went 6.45sec to the first mark – just over a length outside Bell Tower’s first section record recorded in April 2015.
“His best asset his definitely his early speed – His first sections are really quick but his last section isn’t as strong.”
