After the Gerrie Sneyders/Pearl Terry combination prepared an impressive Healesville treble on Tuesday, they look towards a quinella on Monday with their home-bred litter sisters; Amlin Frozen & Amlin Crystal in the Restricted Wins Final.
“We have had doubles quite a few times but we only have three race dogs at the moment so to get a treble (with Amlin Storm) is great, we don’t do it for the wins, we do it because we love the dogs but when you breed and race the mothers to then win races with the daughters it gives you an extra little kick”
The ‘Amlin’ prefix is a clever play on where they live, Nilma North, as Nilma spelled backwards is Amlin and will be carried proudly by Elsa (Amlin Frozen) & Maisy (Amlin Crystal) in Race 6 on Monday.
Gerrie, a former manager of the Healesville Greyhound Association and Pearl, a long-time volunteer and canteen manager, have been long-time supporters of the club including playing a huge role in the getting the track from a grass track to sand and from a non-TAB to a TAB meeting while also being current members of the club.
“We took a gamble on American Monster as a sire, we had nothing to lose because we originally had no plans to sell any and if they didn’t make the track we would probably add them to our retirement home here at home” said Gerrie Sneyders “but it has paid off as they’ve been a good litter”
When pressed on the chances of his two charges in Monday’s race Gerrie said, “Amlin Crystal probably has more ability of the two but Amlin Frozen is probably the better straight dog. They do have to jump and be left alone but they are there to win so if everything goes right, then we are with a chance in a fairly even race”.
